Biography

Versatile soprano Linda Teasley performs an ever expanding repertoire of musical styles. From classical to world music, opera to jazz, her approach is flexible, lively, and infused with a profound appreciation of cultural diversity.

Her lastest recording project, Canciones Argentinas with acclaimed pianist Carlos Rodríguez, features beloved songs of Argentina, and is her solo debut.

"Teasley... achieves something ethereal,” writes jazz critic Douglas Payne of her vocals on Global Standard Time, recorded with percussionist and husband Tom Teasley. Larry Nai of Jazziz magazine notes her performance “…revives the haunting sound of late-’60‘s European film music.” She also features on The Soul Dances; Poetry, Prose, Percussion and Song; Time Travel; and numerous recordings with the United States Navy Band where she served for over 20 years.

She began training at Pennsylvania’s top-ranked Lebanon Valley College, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education, a Master of Music from the University of North Carolina, and a Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Maryland.

She has appeared at Carnegie Hall, at the Los Angeles World Music Festival, the Kennedy Center, the Washington Folk Festival, and the Blossom Music Festival in Cleveland, Ohio. She has performed with the Cincinnati Pops, the Boston Pops, the National Symphony Orchestra, and on numerous nationally televised events.

She has served on the faculties of Georgetown University, The University of North Carolina and Northern Virginia Community College. Currently, she is Artistic Director on the faculty of Maryland’s Mitchellville Community School of the Arts, near Washington, D.C., and performs with the early-music ensemble, Carmina.
